San Marco USA is the sole distributor of products for San Marco, located in Cologna Veneta in the proximity of Verona, Italy, 60 miles from the magic of Venice.
The San Marco company from Italy takes its name and logo from Saint Mark, patron saint of Venice.

The area of Veneto where Cologna Veneta is, at the time when Mandorlato was first manufactured, was still under the influence of the Austrian-Hungarian empire.
During this times of struggle for independence, any symbols associated with the Republic of Venice came to embody that desire of freedom.
The enthusiasm swept all aspects of life and the apothecary who invented this candy, associated his new creation with Venice, hence the name of San Marco.

Started in the middle of the 1800's by Mr. Nodari as a family run business, San Marco quickly grew to become one of the best known Mandorlato producers in the north east of Italy.

Its artisan manufacturing process, unchanged over 150 years, has received the recognition and distinction of designation of origin from Italian Chamber of Commerce and Cologna Veneta was designated as the capital of Mandorlato.
